moms, mothers day, women's health, northwest Arkansas, healthcare, OBGYN, gynecology, midwife, fertility, infertility, baby, birth, pregnancyIt is the time of year to celebrate our mothers. Each on awesome in her own way. But that got us thinking about the different types of moms. So we made a list. This list is by no means exhaustive of all the words that describe motherhood, but it is a good start

The Different Types of Moms

Mothers are a common denominator for all humans and come in all different shapes, sizes, and colors. Some are not even related to us by blood but are chosen or adopted as life-long mentors. Michele Zipp posted an amusing list of mothers or caregivers that she sees at the park. Try to identify yourself or your mom below:

Fancy Mom. Fancy mom is in high heels, her makeup looks perfect, and you want to know where she bought her clothes. You envy the fact she can run after her kids in a dress and still manage to look like a gazillion bucks.

Pajama Mom. She’s comfy, cozy, and maybe doesn’t match, but she doesn’t care. She shares ideas on what sweats would look best with what t-shirt.

Coffee Mom. This mom is the envy of every tired parent at the playground because she always has her ‘cup of Joe’. But it does make some wonder, is it really coffee?

Cell Phone Mom. This mama cannot disconnect from her phone — talking or texting or scrolling. Maybe it’s for work, maybe it’s some social network, maybe she’s reading the mobile version of a magazine, but she’s on the phone so much you start to believe she does have eyes on the back of her head.

Photo Taking Mom. These types of moms must have full photo albums for each day because she’s snapping a picture from every angle for every step her little one takes.

Hovering Mom. And let’s just say this mom is the definition of a helicopter parent, not letting her child take one step without being right there next to her.

Peter Pan Mom. Fun, free-spirited mom isn’t afraid to slide down the slide, get sand in her toes while building sandcastles, and getting into playing at the park.

Loner Mom. This kind of mama makes no eye contact and never smiles at the other parents. It’s clear she doesn’t want to be involved with even the smallest of talk.

Super Friendly Mom. These types of moms are quick to smile and say hello. Super Friendly Mom remembers how old your kids are and even their names. She’s the mom who will text asking for playdates.

Entourage Mom. This mom rolls with at least two other moms wherever she goes. It’s hard to tell which kid belongs to whom in this group, but they’re tight and are like the cool kids in the lunchroom.

Mothers Are A Reason to Celebrate

Mother’s Day is a celebration of each individual mom. And in case you are wondering who a mother is and what she does, ponder these words that describe a mother: advocate, angel, caregiver, chauffeur, coach, comedian, concerned, counselor, crusader, defender, ‘doctor’, encourager, fun, graceful, gracious, guardian, guide, hardworking, kind, manager, nourisher, nurse, nurture, parent, protective, proud, referee, resourceful, sentimental, smart, surprising, sustainer, teacher, tenderhearted, watchful, wise, and worrier.

No matter which type of mother you are or what type yours is, let’s make sure that we honor our mothers and motherhood this month. Imagine what the world would be like without moms. We wouldn’t want to live there, would you?

All of us at Creekside Center for Women would like to wish all our fantastic moms a Happy Mother’s Day! We’d love to see you and your smile at Creekside Center for Women. Come visit us! 479.582.9268
